Terms of use.
Effective 15 October 2026 · updated 21 October 2026 · RoadAssist Bharat
Not an emergency service. In an emergency in India, call 112.
Never wait for RoadAssist to get help for you.
These terms apply to the RoadAssist Bharat web app and consoles at
app.roadassistbharat.online, the Android app and the
Telegram bot. By using them you accept these terms. If you do not, please do not use them. How we handle
your data is in the Privacy policy.
1. A working demo, provided as is
RoadAssist Bharat is a student project run by its project team, not a company and not a commercial
service. It is free and provided as is and as available, with no
promise that it works, is accurate, is secure or stays online. The live demo runs on a free hosting plan
that goes to sleep when idle and can take about a minute to wake. We may change, reset or switch off any
part of it at any time, with or without notice.
2. No emergency-service guarantee
RoadAssist is not connected to 112, the police, ambulances or any other responder. On the live demo an
SOS creates a record and looks up the nearest simulated unit, but contacts nobody: text alerts to your
emergency contacts are only written to a log, not sent. Telegram alerts, where switched on, reach only
contacts who opted in, and their delivery is not guaranteed. Nothing in the app, including a message that
an alert was sent, means that help is coming. Call 112.
3. Accounts
On the live demo, phone sign-in accepts only published demo numbers and shows the sign-in code on
screen, so those accounts are shared with anyone who uses the same number. Do not enter real personal
details, real emergency contacts or real medical information into them. If you sign in with Google, the
account is yours; keep your Google account secure, because anyone who controls it can enter your
RoadAssist account. You must be 18 or older to create an account.
You can delete a citizen account yourself, in Settings on the web or More on Android, at any time
when no booking or SOS is open; the Privacy policy says exactly what is
deleted and what is kept. The shared demo numbers cannot be deleted, because everyone trying the demo
uses them. Other accounts are deleted on request.
4. Acceptable use
Use RoadAssist lawfully and for its purpose. Do not:
- raise false emergencies or hazard reports meant to mislead, or report hazards you have not seen;
- add someone as an emergency contact without their agreement, or enter anyone else's personal data
without the right to;
- upload photos or notes that are unlawful, abusive, or intended to identify or track a person;
- try to get into accounts or data that are not yours, test the platform's security without the
team's permission, get around its rate limits, or overload it with automated traffic;
- use the platform to send spam or to harass anyone, including through the Telegram bot.
We may remove content, or suspend or close an account, that breaks these rules.
5. Mechanics, bookings and payments
On the live demo, the mechanics, service partners, responder units and road-monitoring devices are
demo data: simulated accounts and equipment, not real businesses or people. A booking
will not bring anyone to you, and quotes, invoices and payments are simulated, so no money moves. We do
not vouch for any mechanic, price or repair.
6. AI detections can be wrong
The road scan and the road-monitoring dashboard use computer-vision models to suggest potholes and road
damage. They miss real hazards and report ones that are not there. A detection, or the absence of one, is
a suggestion, never a statement that a road is safe. Watch the road, not the screen, and never use the
app while driving. Map data, addresses, distances, travel times, weather and nearby places come from
open data and free services and can also be wrong or out of date.
7. What you submit
You keep the rights to the photos, notes and reports you submit. You allow us to store them and to show
them as the Privacy policy describes, for example a hazard's position on the live map, for as long as
the demo holds them. Map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors.
8. Limitation of liability
Because this is a free student demo, you use it at your own risk. To the fullest extent Indian law
allows, the project team is not liable for any loss, injury or damage that comes from using RoadAssist,
from relying on anything it shows, or from it being unavailable, wrong or insecure. This includes a
missed or delayed emergency alert, a booking nobody answers, and a wrong detection or route. Nothing in
these terms excludes a liability that the law does not allow to be excluded.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction over any
dispute about them.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. The new version applies from the effective date shown at the top of this
page. Earlier versions are kept in the project's public source history.
